aqua 11x12x8

The most evocative place is in between, in that place of tension between emotions, conceptions, groups of people, images. In almost any case if you look carefully and quietly, you will find relationships where, on the surface, none exist.

Fish nor Fowl is a series of musings on transition, change, and that feeling of not quite fitting in - being neither this nor that, neither fish nor fowl. When we're in that place, we can stay, or we can reach upward to transform that in-between pain into an entirely new way of being.

Aqua has elements of the mermaid, but reaches upward with wings to the world of air, singing and calling to others of her in-between kind.

"I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each."
- t.s. elliot: the love song of j. alfred prufrock
